Top 10 things that are often missed when planning a wedding
You have a list of all the big to-do’s for your wedding day: venue, dress, cake, photographer, invitations, etc. These items may take up the bulk of your time, but the small details of wedding planning can make a world of difference! To make sure everything runs smoothly and your wedding is as stress-free as possible, we’ve created a list of top 10 things that are often missed during wedding planning.
Forgetting about the weather
While the weather is not something you can control, it’s something that you can prepare for. Most weather apps can give a fairly accurate prediction within 10 days of your wedding day. Take a peek and have some supplies on hand, just in case. Don’t forget that waterproof mascara is great for both tears and rain!
Not keeping your photographer informed
Open communication is the key to success, so keep your photographer informed of who your family members are and where events will be held. If you decide to take engagement photos, this is a great opportunity to not only get to know your photographer, but also talk about what your wedding photos should look like.
Not having a no-play list for the DJ
There are some songs you just don’t want the DJ to play at your wedding. This may be due to lyrical content or personal preference. Either way, make sure that you give your DJ or band a list of songs that you do NOT want them to play.
Don’t forget about lighting
If you want beautiful, sunset wedding pictures, the sun has to be out. Make sure that you know what time the sun sets and talk to your photographer about the kind of lighting you’ll need for the reception. Both natural and artificial lighting are important to get the perfect picture.
Signs and directions
The last thing you want is for people to get lost, wandering around the property, looking for the bathroom. Make sure to have signs telling people how to get to the reception from the ceremony, where the bathrooms are, and where to go for pictures.
Have something for the kids to do
If there are children attending your wedding, you’ll want to have some activities available for them. A station where they can go to play with Legos, colour, or watch a movie are all ways to ensure both adults and kids have a good time.
Clean your jewellery
Make sure to clean your engagement ring before the day of the wedding. Since your rings will show up in your wedding photos, you want to make sure that they are sparkling clean. Let your diamond shine!
Having an emergency bag
You never know what may come up during the wedding. So, make sure to have an emergency bag on hand for make-up touch-ups, small dress repairs, Ibuprofen for headaches, or even some tampons, just in case. You may not need the items, but perhaps someone else at the wedding will.
Comfortable shoes
Standing and walking all day in heels is a killer! Make sure to have some comfortable shoes ready after all the wedding pictures are over. You can even bring a change of comfortable clothes for the ride home as a way to wind down from one of the biggest days of your life.
