How to create a stress free wedding day
Planning an event as complicated as a wedding can be stressful in and of itself. Add to it family members, various personalities, and a mix of people who’ve never met, and things can get stressful! In this post, we’ll talk about some things you can do to create a stress-free wedding.
Pre-Wedding To-Do’s
You probably already have a to-do list for your wedding day, but make a to-do list for all the little things you can get done beforehand. Some examples include packing a small emergency bag with little things like, floss, make-up (for touch-ups), safety pins, and even a band-aid or two. Manicures and pedicures can also be done a few days before, along with any double checking of lists, services, or weather forecasts. On the day of the wedding, getting an early start on hair and make-up before the ceremony means not having to check the time as often. If you’re not planning on doing your own hair and make-up, getting it professionally done means you can sit back and relax during the process.
Support and Reliability
The more you have to manage, the more stressed you’ll be. However, if from the beginning, you delegate tasks to reliable people around you, the entire process seems less daunting. Do your research on photographers and caterers, read their reviews, or even see if you can talk to previous clients. Get to know the people providing these services at your wedding. One great way to get to know your photographer is by taking engagement photos! When it comes to the wedding party, you know which friends and family members you can rely on to help out, to talk/vent to, or to just be there for emotional support.
Letting Go
Some things will always be out of your control. You can’t control the weather, but you can make sure to bring extra umbrellas. You can’t control how people will behave, especially after a few drinks, but you can make sure to have a seating chart made up. You can’t control gravity, but you can include a Tide pen in your emergency bag in case spills happen. Trying to control all the small details can be more stressful than the wedding itself. Remember, in the end, you want to look back on this day and remember happy moments, not stressful ones.
Team Work
Your wedding isn’t just your day, it’s the first day of your life with your partner. After all the celebration is over, it’s just the two of you. Work together with your partner while you plan your wedding. Chances are that you’ll be making many decisions together in the future, so why not use this wedding as a way to practice teamwork, open communication, and compromise. Planning and preparing may be important, but getting along and having fun with your partner is the key to a stress-free wedding!
