It’s 2019 going on 2020 and gone are the puffy wedding dresses, teased hair, and elaborate meals of the past. Today, people are not only environmentally conscious, but technologically savvy and multicultural. What are some wedding trends of 2019/2020? Keep reading to find out!

Behind the Scenes Moment

In a world where so many pictures are posed and staged, capturing the private moments before a wedding begins is seriously nostalgic. What were you thinking when you were getting your hair done? What was the look on his face as he went over his vows in the dressing room? How did mom react when you first came out in your wedding dress? While some may go as far as to capture the not-so-glamorous moments of a wedding, talk to your photographer about the moments you want to include in your wedding photos.

Green planning

More and more people want to make sure their wedding is as carbon neutral and eco-friendly as possible. This wedding trend includes using local and seasonal flowers or ingredients in the centre pieces and meals. Outdoor venues or venues that are naturally cool and accommodating for large groups of people are also becoming more popular. You can even purchase stationary made from recycled materials for your invitations. And finally, with technological advances, you can use video mapping to transform and personalise your venue.

Personalised everything

Speaking of personalising, you can do this for all your wedding accessories nowadays. You can have logos, initials, and designs made specifically for your invitations, menus, and RSVPs. One great way to do this is by taking engagement photos. This personalising trend even works for the cake! Instead of a traditional wedding cake, there are now cakes in the shape of words or letters that spell out a sweet message.

Multicultural weddings

This isn’t necessarily a wedding trend, but as more and more people of different cultures meet and fall in love, weddings have also become more and more multicultural. It isn’t surprising to see French food mixed with Italian wedding traditions or a Chinese tea ceremony preceding a church ceremony. These cultural influences make weddings in 2019/2020 much more interesting and creative than weddings of the past. Regardless of trends though, the main thing to remember is that your wedding is a day to celebrate your relationship. It should be a reflection of who you and your partner are as individuals and as a couple.
